Shawnie Takes On Monterey, Ca

Recently I was able to take a weekend vacation to Monterey, CA, and I was not disappointed. In this article, I will discuss my personal experience while traveling to Monterey & give you suggestions to get yourselves in when considering your next trip to Monterey.

How did I get there/Where did I Stay?

I took a 2 hour road trip from the Bay Area to Monterey and had the best time! I intended to relax by the water & escape the fast-paced culture of the SF Bay Area. I was grateful to stay at the Monterey Tides on Monterey State Beach. My room was oceanside which was an absolute dream. As soon as I wanted to see the beautiful waves again, I could simply just open my hotel door or open the curtains & be completely immersed in the beach’s beauty. The roaring crystal blue waves accompanied by the lush tan sand at each access was an absolute dream! I am a lover of the ocean so this was heaven for me.

What did I do to kill time while Out in Monterey?

One word: RELAX:

My life while living in the Bay Area can get chaotic, so to be able to experience the priceless serenity that Monterey offers was an absolute treat. My main focus of this trip was to relax & unwind in a well-deserved getaway. My trip consisted mostly of sleeping, relaxing by the waves, visiting some of Monterey’s most prized attractions, and enjoying delicious local cuisine. Below I will go more in detail about what I’ve done while out in Monterey & hopefully give you some insight on what you can do on your trip out here!

Without a shadow of a doubt,

Visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a must while being in Monterey. However, I decided to dedicate this trip to exploring other attractions that Monterey had to offer. Whether it was Old Fisherman's Wharf, Carmel by the Sea, and Cannery Row as a whole. Part of me does wish I was able to spend a day at the aquarium, however, my trip was so satisfying it was almost as if the aquarium was not even needed!

Dinner @ Schooners:

Along with my passion for travel, I am an avid foodie! Monterey has some of the greatest local cuisine to offer. If you are a fan of seafood, then this is your dream town! I was able to dine at a restaurant located right on the waters of Monterey Bay called Schooners. They specialize in contemporary American cuisine and sustainable/fresh seafood. I was able to sit right at the window to witness the waves crashing against the exterior of the restaurant. I tried their Dungeness Crab Pasta which was a dish that I will remember forever. The huge chunks of fresh Dungeness crab complemented the zestiness of the lemon and pesto pasta beautifully. All to wash with a nice Aldino, one of their many specialty cocktails. Schooners takes the cake for ambiance, experience, and out-of-this-world cuisine. I would 100% recommend this spot for a classy and sexy date night!

Pebble Beach & 17 Mile Beach

Pebble Beach is one of the most memorable attractions during my trip. I was able to experience the beauty of Pebble Beach through the scenic route known as the 17-mile drive. The scenic 17-Mile Drive is a mesmerizing coastal route that winds through the rugged Pacific shoreline and lush forests of the Monterey Peninsula in California. Known for its breathtaking vistas and iconic landmarks, this toll road offers a journey through the natural splendor and opulent residences of the area. As travelers cruise along, they encounter the enchanting Lone Cypress, the restless waves at Spanish Bay, and the dramatic coastline of Point Joe. The route ultimately leads to the world-famous Pebble Beach, a haven for golf enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, where the grandeur of the land meets the endless blue of the ocean. This picturesque drive encapsulates the quintessential beauty of California’s coast, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking a serene escape into nature’s arms.
